Route optimization
Efficient warehouse processes are essential for smooth production. For one of our customers, we optimized order picking using a digital solution with mobile devices, which shortened walking distances, minimized errors and enabled transparent tracking of components in real time.
The initial situation
TRIOLOGY GmbH was commissioned to optimize the routes for order pickers in the warehouse. In the initial state, the printed documents of a warehouse management system were manually sorted according to one or more structuring criteria on the document, distributed to the respective employees, picked and placed in the target container.

The solution
This process was digitized using software (developed by TRIOLOGY) and hardware in the form of mobile devices.
Mobile devices (handheld data terminals) are used for the order pickers. The application's responsive web interface can be accessed via these and information on which component is to be picked next from which shelf is sent directly to the picker.
By observing the warehouse layout, the order picker is guided in a route-optimized manner. Each time a part is picked, a cross-check is carried out using a scan with the handheld data terminal to check whether the part is being picked from the correct container. This is followed by a printout via a mobile printer, which replaces the original receipt from the warehouse management system.
An agile process model was used during development. The following technologies were used:

Das Ergebnis
Nach dem Projekt kann der Fachbereich vor Ort über ein zentrales Dashboard die aktuellen Bearbeitungsstände in Echtzeit verfolgen und sehen welche Teile in welche Zielbehälter eingelagert werden. Es erfolgt ein Tracking der Bauteile bis zum Verbau.
Die Laufwegeoptimierung erfolgt auf Basis eines konfigurierbaren Regaleditors, wo die Lagerplätze der Bauteile einsortiert werden.
Wichtig war es hierbei, eine einfache und intuitive Bedienung für den Kommissionierer zu implementieren, der den Prozess unterstützt und ihn durch den Kommissionierungsvorgang leitet. Die Software ist individuell erweiterbar und anpassbar.
